June 1944, in occupied France. Jérôme is living with his young and beautiful wife, Marie, in a castle near the Normandy’s beaches. Bored with her husband, Mary is just dreaming of leaving the Norman countryside and moving to the exciting capital, Paris…
Their peaceful life is suddenly disturbed when a Resistance leader is parachuted in the region to prepare D-Day… The trio will take unexpected directions and have to make choices…

La vie de château is the first feature-film of Jean-Paul Rappeneau, who was amongst the first directors to make a light comedy film about the Second World War.

Winner of the Prix Louis-Delluc for Best Film in 1965.
